Stop Repeated Detoxing

This problem comes up for me continually:

Friends, family, colleagues and clients will tell me how drained they are. It takes just a few questions to realize the root cause is detoxing from either a Doctor’s ad, a TikTok ad, or even a Functional Medicine Doctor’s protocol.

Here are the common errors with ANY detox:

Detoxing Can Drain You

  1. Electrolyte Imbalance – Excess fluid loss without minerals leads to fatigue.

  2. Blood Sugar Drops – Too little food or protein can cause dizziness and weakness.

  3. Overburdening the Liver – Sudden toxin release without proper elimination can cause sluggishness.

  4. Loss of Muscle & Energy Stores – Extreme fasting leads to breakdown of muscle, leaving you tired.

Parasite Cleanses Can Be Draining

  1. Die-Off Reactions (Herxheimer Reaction) – As parasites die, they release toxins that can overwhelm the liver.

  2. Electrolyte Imbalance – Heavy detoxing can deplete minerals, leading to fatigue.

  3. Gut Disruption – Killing parasites may disturb beneficial gut bacteria.

  4. Blood Sugar Drops – Restrictive diets can cause energy crashes.

How long should a detox last? Here are some pros and cons when evaluating the length of a detox:

Short-Term Detox (1-3 Days) – Good for a quick reset without major energy loss.
✅ Best for mild detoxes like increasing hydration, eating clean, and light herbal support.
❌ Can be too short to clear deeper toxins but prevents extreme fatigue.

Moderate Detox (7-14 Days) – Supports deeper cleansing but requires careful nourishment.
✅ Works well for gut and liver detox, including parasite cleanses and anti-inflammatory diets.
❌ May cause fatigue if nutrients aren’t balanced (protein, electrolytes, fiber).

Extended Detox (21-30 Days) – Targets deeper toxins but must be balanced to avoid exhaustion.
✅ Ideal for gradual parasite cleanses, candida detoxes, or heavy metal detoxing.
❌ Can be draining if too restrictive—requires strategic nutrition and supplementation.

My rule of thumb is to take LONG BREAKS BETWEEN ANY CLEANSE!

Your body has to pull nutrients from bones and organs to create a chelation to pull out pathogens. This depletes vitamins and minerals and can wreck your health without rebuilding the foundation.

THE BIGGEST DANGER HERE IS LOSING TOO MANY NUTRIENTS TO SUSTAIN YOUR LIFE thru any illness.
