Fat Cells and Detox
The Suitcases of the Body
Fat cells get a bad rap.
The truth is our fat cells do more to protect our organs than anyone talks about in our diet culture.
One of the biggest drivers of the obesity epidemic is chemicals not food. Read further and I’ll explain.
🧪 Fat is Necessary for Nutrients
Fat-soluble vitamins: A, D, E, and K are stored in fat and released as needed.
Hormones: Fat tissue helps regulate and buffer hormones like estrogen.
Energy (triglycerides): Fat stores excess calories for later use.
⚠️ Fat Stores Harmful Chemicals
Fat carries and stores lipophilic (FAT-LOVING) toxins that the body cannot easily eliminate.
❌ Sample of Toxins living in your fat cells:
Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) like:
Dioxins
PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls)
Pesticide residues (e.g., DDT)
Heavy metals (indirectly, though these accumulate more in organs)
Phthalates and BPA (from plastics)
These toxins can accumulate over time, especially with chronic exposure from food, water, or the environment.
🔁 When Fat Breaks Down, Toxins Are Released
During rapid weight loss or fasting, stored toxins can be released into the bloodstream, potentially causing:
Fatigue
Headaches
Hormonal imbalances
Inflammation
These symptoms can be known as a “ Candida Flu or KETO flu”, meaning when they hit you hard, you feel really sick. This is why detox pathways(like liver and kidney function) need to be supported during weight loss.
When you are losing weight, your body needs extra support to help it remove these chemicals. These chemicals take nutrients out of your bones and other tissue to eliminate thru your feces and urine.
