Hacks for Healing
We Americans are ridiculous in the expectations we have about making lifestyle changes and getting the results we want in our skin, weight, hair growth, or gut health. We have been conditioned to take a pill to solve all of our problems.
True healing takes time.
Your body works like the building of a skyscraper. Seeing results takes time. The repair begins in the cells.
Most people quit a health plan before they see the results on the outside.
Keeping your skin healthy requires a combination of good nutrition, proper skincare, and lifestyle habits.
Here are some basics for cleaning out the diet, results vary per person:
Things to Add-
Hydrate: Drink plenty of water and herbal teas to keep skin plump and detoxified.
Eat Antioxidant-Rich Foods: Berries, leafy greens, and nuts help fight free radicals.
Healthy Fats: Avocados, olive oil, and fatty fish support skin elasticity.
Collagen Boosting: Bone broth, vitamin C (oranges, bell peppers), and zinc (pumpkin seeds) promote collagen production.
Gut Health Matters: Probiotic foods like yogurt, kimchi, and kefir help prevent inflammation that can show up on the skin.
Things to Remove-
Refined Sugars & Processed Carbs-
Spikes blood sugar, increasing insulin levels and triggering oil production, which can lead to acne and inflammation.
Dairy-
Dairy can trigger inflammation and increase insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1), which is linked to acne.
Fried & Processed Foods-
These contain trans fats and oxidized oils that increase inflammation and can lead to breakouts and premature aging.
Excessive Caffeine & Alcohol-
Both can dehydrate the skin, making it look dull and emphasizing wrinkles. Alcohol also impairs liver function, which is essential for detoxing.
Artificial Additives & Preservatives-
Processed foods often contain chemicals that can trigger skin irritation and inflammation.
